2nd October ' 15 - Bayonetta: Bloody Fate.

If you're a fan of the game then you'll surely love this movie version. It has everything that the game features, the cheeky flirtiness of the main character, the big monsters, all the side characters, the weirdness, the lollipops, big guns, running on walls, The Gates Of Hell bar... everything! Bayonetta is even voiced by the same voice actress Hellena Taylor.

Incidentally I watched it as a high def download through the PlayStation and English was the only option, but the movie was originally recorded in Japanese so I assume the DVD version has a language selection. The Japanese Bayonetta is voiced by Atsuko Tanaka famous for Ghost In The Shell.

I won't tell too much about the story as to avoid spoilers but it begins with Bayonetta awaking at the bottom of a lake with no memory as to who she is or how she got there. However she was witnessed doing battle with a demon which resulted in the death of a human, so a journalist named Luka tracks her down thinking she committed murder. Bayonetta has no memory of what really happened and has to trust her deadly rival Jeanne who helps her recover her past.

If you've never played the game then this movie may appear a little over the top perhaps. It doesn't take itself too seriously, yet it's certainly not a comedy, it's more dark humour intermixed with light horror and a very flirtatious sexy protagonist. It's one of those movies that can't be categorised, it simply is what it is.
