Poetry Corner
A small selection of poetry by Raymond Johnson

I wrote this poem in the spring of 2016. It's basically a simple poem that rhymes the last two words of the second and last line of each verse. It's all about the children's TV show My Little Pony which has a very wide fan base online which includes a lot of adults. While I personally am not a huge fan I can certainly see the appeal with their big cute eyes and varied characters. It reminds me of a Japanese anime in the style in which it's animated.

Friendship Is Magic

Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie,
To name but a few,
You're all so cute and friendly,
Why everyone loves you.

You embark upon adventures,
Having lots of fun,
Earning your cutie mark along the way,
That appears magically upon your bum.

I first watched your TV show,
An episode about a bird that was lame,
Fluttershy helped the poor creature,
A magnificent Phoenix from the flame.

I spy a cheeky cowboy pony,
His name is Applejack,
I discover he's a girl,
I'm taken aback.

Are you really ponies?
Some of you resemble unicorns,
While others possess wings,
That they proudly adorn.

Whatever you're supposed to be,
Without you would be tragic,
For the message that you spread,
Is that friendship is magic.
