Poetry Corner
A small selection of poetry by Raymond Johnson

I wrote this poem in 2007 about I woman I used to date named Demelza. It's essentially a simple rhyming poem mentioning facets of her looks and personality. I only knew her for a few months, but she helped me overcome a lot of problems within my life even if she was unaware of it. She also bought me a dozen roses.

Demelza

The curl of your hair,
The sweat on your forehead,
The glint in your eye,
You fulfil me.

The ting of your accent,
The shine on your teeth,
The shape of your smile,
Fill me with glee.

The strength of your character,
The confidence of your will,
The wealth of your knowledge,
I agree.

The odour of your body,
The sweet perfume on your neck,
The smell of your skin,
Like Potpourri.

The words that you say,
The questions you ask,
The kindness of your speech,
Like a catchphrase you say take it easy.

The poem that I write,
The words that come,
The point that I make,
Is that I miss thee.
